About this speaker

Dr Rain Yamamoto is a nutritional epidemiologist in the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety, WHO. Her work is focused on developing scientific guidance and providing technical support to governments in their efforts to promote healthy diets. Before joining WHO, she worked as Food Standards Officer in the Codex Secretariat at FAO. She also worked for more than 10 years at the Japanese government, where she conducted scientific assessment and developed countermeasures for food-related risks. Dr Yamamoto holds a Master of Science in Molecular Biology from University of Tokyo, and a Master of Science and a Doctor of Science in Nutrition Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health.
