About this Health talk

Convened by Resolve to Safe Lives and the World Health Organization.

Session overview

Excess sodium intake leads to increased blood pressure and consequently to increased risks of cardiovascular diseases.  In 2013, Member States adopted the Global action plan for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases 2013-2020, to take coordinated action and attain voluntary global targets.

Many countries are taking action to reduce population sodium intake, but further action is needed to reduce the health consequences. Numerous sodium reduction strategies have been reflected in the proposed Food Systems Summit Game-Changing Solutions, and many technical tools have been developed. This webinar will provide an overview of the best buys and focus on the tools available to support implementing sodium reduction policies and programmes, including the launch of the new WHO Sodium Country Score Card.
